TSC starts hiring ECDE teachers for PnP terms
TSC will start hiring ECDE instructors with permanent employment and pension benefits. The President’s Education Task Force presented their suggestion to the President. If the president implements the approved ideas, ECDE instructors will stand to gain the most.
The President’s Education Reform Working Group’s term ended yesterday. This occurred after he made his last set of recommendations. Note that this committee was the one who suggested to the government that secondary schools be built inside of elementary schools already in operation. Additionally, the Council approved the hiring of almost 35,000 academic members.
At first, the Board of Governors offered districts assistance in finding permanent, pensionable ECDE faculty. The board has also established a pay structure for instructors who hold certificates and degrees. Holders of certificates will receive Sh24,837, holders of diplomas Sh34,395 and holders of degrees Sh46,494. Sadly, the vast majority of districts never did.
The sad reality is that many districts still don’t regularly hire these teachers. This shows that these professors are paid differently and are hired under contract. Once the task force report is approved, ECDE teachers will relocate and start working for TSC.
The group suggests that P1 and ECDE teachers be hired with comparable credentials, put in the same job group, and permitted to work together. Furthermore, they’ll get equivalent pay and benefits.
