The commission has formally asked for an allocation of Ksh 10 billion for the 2019 fiscal year in compliance with this mandate. A portion of these money will be used to promote teachers who have remained in the same job groups, and the remainder will be used to hire interns and permanent, pensionable instructors.
The financial requirements were broken down by Dr. Macharia, who said that Ksh 2 billion would be required for competitive teacher promotions, Ksh 1.2 billion for hiring intern teachers, and Ksh 5.3 billion for hiring 8,000 teachers on a permanent basis.
Teachers who have experienced job group stagnation may benefit from this development since it offers chances for professional growth and better terms of employment. Additionally, it gives many unemployed teachers who have already registered with the Teachers Service Commission optimism.
Dr. Macharia presented this information to the Parliamentary Committee on Education as they discussed the fiscal year 2023–2024 budget policy statement.
