Mount Kenya storm worsens,Gachagua seeks a truce with Uhuru
On Friday, October 6, when discussing the rift with Uhuru Kenyatta on Inooro TV, Gachagua made it known that he was looking to have a conversation with Uhuru in an effort to bring Mount Kenya together as the 2027 General Election draws near.
His family’s Northland City was invaded after he announced support for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, he continued, adding that he had further advised his allies to avoid from harming the former head of state.
Gachagua, who wants to become the region’s power broker, believes it was preferable to bring the community together and heal the rivalry that was shown during the race for Mt Kenya votes.
“Mr. Kenyatta lost the presidential election he was fronting Mr. Raila Odinga for. Despite everything, we have made the decision to accept him as our honorable son and statesman.
“As leaders of Mount Kenya, we have decided not to attack him, and I intend to speak with him. He is doing well to maintain his peace, and I have ordered everyone to respect him, said Gachagua. Gachagua asserts that Uhuru Kenyatta’s prior choice to enter politics again had the potential to bring down the current administration. He also praised the ex-president for his recent choice to step away from politics.
“I assured no one would be attacked, and we spoke with other leaders. I told them that even if we got into a fight, the elections would have already concluded and that former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is currently enjoying his retirement, should be treated with respect. We have also declared that no one will speak poorly of him. Gachagua said, “I thank him for staying quiet because when he returned to politics we felt the burden.”
Gachagua further revealed that he and Uhuru Kenyatta would be shaking hands at the right time, burying their differences. Two axes can’t stay in one basket without striking each other, so we’ll chat when the time is right and our hearts have softened.
Uhuru hasn’t yet said whether he’s taken a break from politics, despite Gachagua’s claims to the contrary. The former head of state had officially declared that he would not be forced to retire before departing for the UK in July or August of this year.
“I had assumed that I would come and inform you that I have accomplished what I could and that it is time for you to choose other leaders when I summon the NDC. At a contentious National Delegates Conference held at Ngong’ Racecourse in May 2023, he addressed Jubilee delegates, saying that others had decided that it would us intimidation and force. “Today I tell them to get someone to intimidate and not Uhuru Kenyatta,” he said.
After serving two terms as president, he added that he was not leaving the country but rather taking a break. “I have felt peaceful. I’ve never had the enjoyable family time I desired. In fact, I’d like to take a trip with my kids and grandkids. Do not imply that I have fled. In an interview with journalists in July 2023, Uhuru stated, “I need to rest, and they need me.
The competition between the two politicians started from the deputy president’s initial prediction that Uhuru Kenyatta’s supremacy in the Mt. Kenya region would end. His Kenya Kwanza alliance experienced turmoil as a result of his open conflict with Uhuru, which culminated in the most recent Cabinet Secretary shift.
While other CSs, including Moses Kuria, a former Trace CS who is currently working in the Public Service docket, appeared to openly dispute and question Gachagua, others accused the DP of manipulating the most recent Cabinet moves. According to earlier this year’s sources, Gachagua was at odds with Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Interior CS Kithure Kindiki. He, however, denied the allegations.
