KCSE Invigilation Excludes All Primary Teachers
Kenyan primary school teachers will no longer oversee the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. Primary school teachers have already been removed by Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs) from the list of those in charge of KCSE exam invigilation.
The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) tests will instead be overseen by primary school teachers, while secondary school teachers will be in charge of KCSE invigilation.
It should be noted that teachers from junior secondary schools (JSS) will not be involved in any national exam invigilation this year. All teachers deployed for the KCSE exams have been told by the Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) to go to the CP2 site to enter their information and get their letters of deployment. This gateway was created to stop elementary school teachers from being sent to oversee the KCSE.
For the 2023 national exams, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has vetted 223,223 teachers to act as supervisors and invigilators, and 37,731 teachers to act as examiners.
For this year’s KCPE and KCSE exams, which will be taken by 2.3 million students, Knec is in charge of conducting the national exams. The KCPE exam will be taken by around 1,415,315 applicants, and the KCSE exam will be taken by 903,260 individuals.According to David Njengere, the Chief Executive of the Kenya National Examination Council, preparations have been undertaken for the candidates, including the 1,282,574 students in Grade Six who will take the KPSEA. The KCSE, KCPE, and KPSEA exams in 2023 will be administered in a combined total of 1,143 containers.
According to Njengere, 576 distribution centers or containers will be utilized to store KPSEA and KCPE exam materials, while 567 of those containers will be used to distribute KCSE exam materials. In order to streamline the procedure, particularly in recently established sub-counties, an additional 82 containers have been purchased.Education officials have underlined the significance of professionalism and attention to rules for all staff involved in the national tests, including Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu. They have issued a warning that individuals who commit crimes won’t be spared.
