Kenya Power Officials Arrested For Demanding Bribe
Two Kenya Power employees were detained for asking for a Ksh. 50,000 bribe to reconnect a home in Kawangware’s power supply after they had previously disconnected it.
Following the complainant’s submission of the case to the anti-corruption watchdog, Lawrence Njogu and Patrick Onsare were arrested on Wednesday by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC). As soon as they received the aforementioned cash from the complainant, they were arrested.
The anti-graft organization stated that “EACC verified the claims and conducted an operation leading to the arrest of the suspects while receiving the demanded amount.”The suspects, who had been detained at Kilimani Police Station, were brought back to the EACC Integrity Center Police Station today (Thursday), where they are being processed.They will likely face bribery-related charges.
