Teachers who will act as supervisors and invigilators during the national exams have undergone screening by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). Nancy Macharia, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TSC, has revealed that an extra 37,731 teachers have been designated as examiners.

Macharia further stated that in the first week of October 2023, the Kenya National Examination Council is expecting all 71,760 center managers to attend sub-county briefing sessions. No delegates will be allowed, and attendance at these meetings is required.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is scheduled to conduct statewide sub-county briefing sessions during the first week of October 2023, she highlighted. The center managers would take part in these meetings.

Macharia issued a directive directing all field officers on leave to report back to work on October 16 in order to ensure the success of the last stage of the national examinations preparations.

Macharia pledged that the TSC, its employees, and teachers will give the upcoming national exams their full support in order to achieve a notable success. She emphasized the TSC’s annual rotation program, which guards against the retention of invigilators or supervisors from the national exams held the year before. Only the center manager and the deputy center manager shall be required to be physically present in the schools throughout the examination time.

Due to the adoption of a new curriculum, Macharia also stated that this will be the final Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) to be administered using the 8-4-4 system. Five additional classes are planned to take the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.

For the purpose of ensuring the success of the next national examinations, TSC CEO Nancy Macharia underlined the vetting procedure, mandatory attendance at sub-county briefing meetings, the return of field officers, and the commitment to the annual rotation strategy.
