Ruto advocates for the consolidation of Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties
According to reports, the move will boost the UDA party’s ability to serve the people’s interests.
Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties should be merged, according to President William Ruto. Speaking during the opening of the UDA offices in Nyeri on Saturday, Ruto stated that the merger will boost the UDA party’s ability to serve the people’s interests.
“We are going to make sure that we build a national party that will unite the country, communities, and interests from every corner so that we can eliminate the politics of ethnicity in Kenya and change it to the politics of parties around issues that will drive the country into prosperity in the future,” Ruto said.
Cleophas Malala, secretary general of the UDA, initially called for the move, insisting that Kenya Kwanza is attempting to establish a formidable party that will survive its current leadership.
Malala, who was accompanying the president on his tour in Nyeri, stated that before the 2027 general elections, every candidate should be registered as a UDA member.
“Tunataka mkienda kuchagua viongozi wenu, mjue kwamba ni lazima uwe umjejiandikisha kama mnwanachama wa UDA,” remarked Malala.(During the elections, we want everyone to be enrolled as a UDA member.)
Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, who was also there, asked Kenyans to join the UDA. In order to support the government’s rule in the coming years.
“The only thing that can keep a government running is a strong party.” That is why we are urging all Kenyans to join the UDA, the national party,” Nyoro remarked.
Other Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties, such as Ford Kenya and the ANC, have denied the appeal. Stating that they all contributed to the formation of the Kenya Kwanza government.
Didmus Barasa, a Kimilili Member of Parliament (MP), has asked Ford Kenya party head Moses Wetang’ula and his Amani National Congress (ANC) boss Musalia Mudavadi to disregard the proposal to merge parties in the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
He claimed Malala’s actions are solely intended to divide the ruling coalition.
“UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala should stop telling us stories.” “His moves aim to cause cracks in the coalition, which the soldiers will not accept,” Barasa stated.
