11 people were hospitalized, including former Suna West MP Joseph Ndiege, after disturbances erupted in Migori County during a rally organized by Azimio’s Raila Odinga and attended by ODM delegates. The chaos began when adolescents wielding machetes insisted on examining all vehicles before entering the grounds of Maranatha Church, where the meeting was to take place.

Ndiege’s two vehicles, a Toyota Landcruiser V8 and a Toyota Probox, were denied admission and stoned by the youths. As the youths targeted him and his supporters, the legislator’s windows were damaged, forcing them to flee the scene.

Those who were injured were transferred to Migori’s Ojele Memorial Hospital.Raila’s entrance at the location restored calm, with Azimio supporters gathered around his trucks.

Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, DAP-K party head Eugene Wamalwa, former Muranga governor Mwangi wa Iria, Migori County Senator Eddy Gicheru Oketch, Migori County Women Representative Fatuma Mohamed, Nyatike MP Tom Mboya Odege, and Awendo Constituency MP Walter Owino were among those in attendance.Raila stated during his remarks at the meeting that anyone elected on the ODM party ticket must follow the party Constitution or resign and run again. He also justified the decision to expel five MPs, claiming that the party is powerful when its members are united and disciplined. Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Phelix Odiwuor, also known as ‘Jalang’o’ (Lang’ata), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda are among those who have been ejected.

“ODM must be strong as a political party, and it can be strong when there is discipline, but it cannot progress when there are cases of indiscipline,” Raila remarked.”We want to see unity; you cannot defect to another party and claim to be seeking development.” There are development structures available to leaders. We don’t want to betray anyone. That is why we took action against individuals who were not party loyal. If you think you’re brave enough, just return to the ground.”
