Kenyans have been alerted that two sets of teachers working for the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) are paid differently despite having the same grade, performing the same tasks, and dealing with the same challenges. Nguna claimed that the dispute between the tutors and their employer, the Teacher’s Service Commission (TSC), which affects over 1000 teachers, started before the 2017 collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

The instructors had interviews for positions as Senior Graduate Teachers before being hired as headteachers under Job Category M, according to further information. This role will be reclassified as group C5 in 2018. Some senior graduate teachers hold the position of headteacher, according to the lawmaker, while others with the same grade continue to work in job group C5 rather than job group D1.
